Name: Ky

Location:
USA

Age: 18

About Me: Freshman in college, studying history and Spanish. I love languages and I'm currently studying Spanish, French and Turkish. My hobbies include shopping, cooking, baking and of course writing. My sense of humor is seen as dry, witty and blunt, which carries into my writing.

About My Journal: My personal journal is mostly about college life and random things. My writing journal ([info]global_vomit ) is relatively new but I hope to be posting there more often!

What I Write: I usually write fanfiction but just recently I've been dabbling into original fiction. Humor is my main genre but I also dabble in general and romance as well. I am thinking about writing drama and angst in the near future but we'll see about that.

What I Don't Write: I can't think of any genre that I wouldn't write for.

What I Read: I am a huge fan of historical fiction, foodie reads (i.e. Anthony Bourdain) and the classic Greek and British literature.

What I Don't Read: Not really into bodice-rippers and whatever teenagers these days read.

Can I critique someone else's work: Yes but I do better critiques if I get to know you first though.

Can I edit someone else's work: I'm not sure but I can try!

Name: Jessica Rae Age: 26. Almost 27 and it's scary as hell to realize that! Location: The Interwebs! What I Write: I've written stories before - and I think if you're a writer you've been doing that since you were very young. But right now I mostly write on blogs. I do style & entertainment coverage for a variety of different sites. You can check some of that out at SmallScreenScoop.com (tv blog) and ShesSmart.com (shopping blog) What I read: Memoirs, Blogs, Novels What I'm Looking For: Other blog writers (in the areas of: entertainment, decor, fashion, & beauty, almost anything if you're fun to read) to network with (twitter, blogrolls), share vents and joys with, yadda. We'll have virtual coffee and talk, and maybe even become friends? If you don't have a blog-blog, I'd still love to make twitter friends with fellow writers who are witty, fun, and like silly things. I post on all of these blogs more than on my LJ so I'm not friending anyone specifically there right now. I like: Geeks!, DVD marathons, Diet Coke, Eating uncooked yellow cake batter, Indian food, Tasha Tudor, Lavender incense, Animals if they're not reptilan, Watching Lauren Bacall movies at 3 a.m., John Mayer's twitter account... Claims to fame: My stuff has been linked to by Whedonesque, The Huffington Post, the Etsy.com main page... I've interviewed Felica Day, Alyson Hannigan, Fred Willard, Mindy Kaling, Wil Wheaton, George Lopez, Michelle Trachentenberg...

Hello there everyone! I posted back in January of this year here. I was reading through it earlier and wow, a lot has changed.

Name: Quinny, same as it was, same as it will ever be!

Age: 24 now!

Location: In January I said that I was saving up to leave the UK. Well now I live in Ireland.

About Me:

I live in the South West of Ireland in County Cork. In a small fishing village called Courtmacsherry. I moved in June because of my job and I love it here.

Well, not really. I have caused offense. If you want to know why this move isn't exactly all it was cracked out to be by all means come join the fun in my journal where the daily shennanigans in county Cork are documented.

I'm still very creative in photography, writing, and drawing. Writing is a big thing at the moment as I really want to get out of my job and be my own boss.

About My Journal:

My journal is not for the faint of heart. Really, I rant about a lot of touchy subjects and my flist are fantastic at either ignoring it or realising that it is just a challenge for debate. And I love them for that.

The big thing in my life at the moment is my move to Ireland. Lots of things are annoying me here and I'm over coming a lot of challenges. My writing doesn't get much mention in my journal at the moment as I want to keep it under wraps until I have a lot more of it done.

At the end of the day it is my journal and you always have the option to not follow me. I never rant about anything that hasn't directly effected me.

What I Write:

I've written pretty much everything. Well I have given it a go at least. The NaNo this year was a trashy romance that I will continue over the Christmas period. The big project is a sci-fi adventure. And we'll see how that turns out.

What I Don't Write:

Serious, straight down the middle, literature. I just can't. You should be able to lose yourself in a book, it should give you an opportunity to become something else in a world you don't have to worry about living in. Serious literature doesn't have an edge that I want so it nearly always turns into supernatural, romance, adventure or fantasy.

What I read:

I read good books (likewise I only listen to good music). It's more about the book on an individual level rather than the genre it fits in. My main genres are Fantasty, Sci-Fi, Horror, Thriller, Supernatural and Crime. Including any combination of those.

I have started reading trashy romance too, I call it my toilet read. As I pretty much read them on the loo. They're a guilty pleasure.

What I Don't Read:

Rubbish. I'll read anything as long as it's good!

Favorite Authors & Books:

David (and Leigh) Eddings,
Raymond .E. Feist,
John Connolly,
Ian Irvine,
James Herbert,
Jasper Fforde,
Trudi Canavan,
Brent Weeks...

Could I edit someone else's work:

I'm going to say no. I make mistakes myself and I have nothing to say I am any better than anyone else to correct a piece of work. I would have a buddy system going on, where two people would work on each others pieces, discussion etc.

What I'm Looking For:

Some one that I can get some creativity going with, round robins, writing challenges, that sort of thing. Or just someone to add to my already extremely creative circle of friends.

That's all folks! Hope to hear from people soon!

Hey everyone,

New journal, new friends ;) Okay so most of my old friends followed me (hehe) but I would like to add more, especially more writers. Some of the same interests are helpful though not required. I'll add anyone interested.

Facts About Me
~ My name is Melodie (or Mel, take your pick).
~ I am 31 years old.
~ I live in Iowa but plan to move to NYC.
~ I have a cat and a dog.
~ I have suffered from depression nearly my whole life.
~ I am a gamer and role player. I play WoW and Horizons (or Istaria, as it is called now). I own a PS2 but I hardly play it. I love The Sims 3 which is also being neglected at the moment. I used to play D&D with a group but I quit a few years ago, I now rp through LJ and IJ.
~ My music tastes vary greatly but my favorite is Voltaire.
~ My non computer-related hobbies mostly revolve around reading, writing and drawing (nothing to do in a small town).
~ In regards to fiction, I mostly read fantasy, horror and anything relating to vampires. My interest in the latter began when I was a little girl so I will give nearly any book or movie a fair chance but I'm usually disappointed. I'm very picky when it comes to vampires.

My posts will have a variety of subjects. I am going to try and do book reviews, it started with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in my previous journal but I haven't done one since (it is overdue). I may repost that review in my new journal. I'm also going to try and do more writing, I've only written one fic which is based on a storyline I had with a friend in an LJ game so essentially half the characters are mine. Other than that, I don't do fanfic and never will. Everything is original and are my own characters (if any of them aren't, I will post a disclaimer).

ETA: I feel I need to mention something, due to the recent friend add that I received. I do not support animal rights organizations like PETA and HSUS (who are the main ones I can think of right now). I have pets and I would like to continue having that right for as long as I live and PETA, HSUS, etc. want to take away that right so they are garbage to me. Animal welfare groups deserve the attention, not them. There is a chance they may crop up in a post in the future.

Name: Jee

Location: Manila, Philippines.

Age: sixteen. (Yes I'm being honest.)

About Me: No, I don't like people. I'm reserved and anti-social, mostly. But I do love to write. I guess I've been doing so ever since I was a kid, and I don't plan on stopping. Why I don't like people? Simple. They hurt. I have my share of good friends, yeah, but it usually takes a long time of deliberation and 'testing' before having one. Not that I am difficult at all. At most, I am amiable if need be. I think I've got this pessimistic outlook upon humanity mostly because right now, the Philippines is in a great truckload of shit everybody's responsible of. Kinda makes me bitter and guilty, at the same time.

About My Journal: I had it made only last year, and forgot about it after a few months. Mostly because I got addicted to online gaming and had to be busy for school. I'm a student, after all. I guess I can say that I will be online often, especially during the holidays, and yes I shall do my best to say equally sensible things. I say 'do my best' because there are times when I would rather randomly type some nonsense than say something helpful. Such is the way of insanity, I guess.

What I Write: I write what I feel like writing. Usually, though, that would mean psychological stuff (I plan on becoming a sort of Creative Therapist when I grow up). Usually it's realistic fiction, no matter how absurd it sounds. Pardon the honesty, but I also right /slash fics, and I am not blinded by homosexuals. Usually.

What I Don't Write: Whatever I don't feel like. It's only obvious, really.

What I Read: I love reading. One of the things that I could do for a whole day non-stop, even. My interest ranges from realism to fictional- although I do not read chick flicks. Or any other sappy love story. Right now, I'm obsessed with both Charlaine Harris' and Neil Gaiman's works (dunno if I spelled Harris' name right, though. Sorry.).

What I Don't Read: As I said before, I do not read chick flicks, romance, and crappy stories about vampires sparkling in the sunlight. Yeap. Twilight.

Can I critique someone else's work: I would love to. It wouldn't hurt to critique something once in a while.

Can I edit someone else's work: Just as long as I won't kill the potential in it, yeah.
Hi! My name is Jen, though I'll respond to pretty much anything besides Jenny. Call me Jenny and it's on! -grin-

I was just recently published in an anthology of short stories for Random with the option of review ten more. The piece was about an anorexic ballerina. Two areas I know so much about. /sarcasm No, I really liked both the writing and the telling of that piece. I wanted it to come out as raw and sensual, the character teetering on a precipice. I think it did all that.

Currently, I am writing for [info]therealljidol. It's a fantastic exercise if you're looking to increase your output of short, prompt-based stories. Outside of annoying my flist with new literary concoctions, I also talk about life, craft up icons or layouts, spin a few mixes together, etc. etc. All the normal journalish stuff.

I'm always looking for new friends, especially those who share my interests. One of the best ways to learn about creating a story, is to absorb as many of them as possible. I love to learn from the people surrounding me. It's one of my greatest influences.
